The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) is the leading professional body for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). We help build excellence in risk management to improve the way organisations work.

The Board of Directors of the IRM leads the organisation and oversees the performance of management to deliver objectives and manage risks. Board directors contribute to the setting of strategic aims, ensure that the Institute has adequate resource, set the Institute’s values and standards and ensure that obligations to members, customers and other stakeholders are understood and met.

Directors are expected to attend five half-day Board meetings annually, a two-day strategy event and an Annual General Meeting as members of the Board. As a suitable candidate, you will have experience of collective decision making at an executive or strategic level and be committed to high standards of conduct and integrity in and outside of meetings.

The Board is specifically looking to attract non-executive directors with the following skills:

Qualifications & Training Sector

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment for education/qualifications in the commercial sector.
  • Knowledge or sales experience of education/qualifications/training/ markets, both locally and internationally, particularly in Europe.
  • Knowledge of new technology applications to education/qualifications/training.

Retail Services Sector:

  • Direct experience of risk management in the retail sector
  • Knowledge of the issues around supply chain risk
  • An international perspective of the risks in the retail supply chain
  • Investment returns and cost
