Putting customers and safety first

Additional safety measures will be in place when specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s risk management team (IRM group scheme member) returns to field based work from July 13.

Following a thorough risk assessment, the Gloucester based insurer’s frontline teams will once again be able to visit customers on site for the first time since Government restrictions were put in place.

Although many of Ecclesiastical’s staff have been able to work remotely to continue providing excellent service to customers, the 45 members of the risk management team have been unable to visit customer sites until additional measures were in place to protect them and others.

Despite this the team has been able to continue supporting customers via the company’s Risk Line, desktop appraisals and valuations and by publishing guidance documents and insights. As the Government lockdown has begun easing in many parts of the country, businesses have begun to reopen, meaning site visits can restart.

New guidance has been developed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the Ecclesiastical staff and customers, incorporating the latest government guidance.

This includes adhering to social distancing and avoiding handshakes, overnight stays and use of public transport.

Other measures, such as avoiding any sites where there may be customers self-isolating, will be implemented along with any potential precautions that have been put in place by customers.

Jo Whyman, Risk Management Director at Ecclesiastical, said: “Our commitment to providing our customers with excellent service is something we have maintained since 1887 and are proud to continue this tradition.

“We know this has been a challenging time for many of our customers, and so we are keen to get back to supporting them.

“Site based Risk Management support is a fundamental part of what we offer as an insurer, and so it was a priority to get up and running as soon as we could while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our customers and our colleagues.

“The response from the teams has been phenomenal and their passion to return to helping customers on site has shone through.”

The team will begin returning to site based work from 13th July.
